From the 14-th to the 19-th of July, the European Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence 2026 took place in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. A total of 94 contestants from 24 countries participated in the olympiad.

The Ukrainian team won two gold medals and placed second in the team ranking.

Roman Mielamud became the absolute winner of the olympiad, outperforming all 93 other contestants.

The European Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (also known as the Central European Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence) is an annual artificial intelligence olympiad for high school students, organized according to IAIO standards and established as the "younger sister" of the Central European Olympiad in Informatics (CEOI). This year marked the inaugural edition of the olympiad.

The Ukrainian team included:

🥇 Roman Mielamud, a graduate of the Mariupol Lyceum of the City of Kyiv (coach: Valentyn Melnyk), won a gold medal and became the absolute winner of the olympiad, outperforming all other contestants;

🥇 Rostyslav Yabchenko, an 11th-grade student at Lyceum No. 145 of the City of Kyiv (coach: Valentyn Melnyk), won a gold medal;

🍀 Andrii Tatarinov, a 10th-grade student at Kremenchuk Lyceum "Polit" (coaches: Valentyn Melnyk and Anton Yastrub);

🍀 Vladyslav Dakhno, an 11th-grade student at Lyceum No. 145 of the City of Kyiv (coach: Valentyn Melnyk).

The team leaders were Melisa Galiba and Tamila Krashtan. The trip was organized by the Ukrainian Federation of Olympiad Programming. The trip was sponsored by Citadel. During the olympiad, two Ukrainians, Melisa Galiba and Anton Tsypko, were elected to the Olympiad's Board.
