International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence

The International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IAIO) is an international AI competition for school students. It has been held since 2024; the 2026 edition took place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and in 2027 it moves to Southeast Asia for the first time — to Vietnam, from 25 February to 2 March.

The competition runs over two days and combines a scientific and a practical round. In the scientific round contestants solve mathematical and algorithmic problems; in the practical one they build and train AI models. The problems span five disciplines, among them computer vision, robotics, machine learning and natural language processing.

The syllabus covers data preparation, supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning, AI search, logical reasoning, evaluation of machine-learning models, constraint satisfaction problems, kernel methods and recommender systems.
