Ukrainian Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence

The Ukrainian Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence is an annual competition for school students in Ukraine, and the way into the national teams for two international AI olympiads. It is free to enter.

What happens there: you do not write about artificial intelligence, you train models. The practical round covers computer vision, natural language processing and reinforcement learning. The theoretical one covers the mathematics and the algorithms behind them.

The strongest contestants go on to represent Ukraine at the European (EuroAI) and International (IAIO) olympiads in artificial intelligence. At the first EuroAI ever held, in Cluj-Napoca in 2026, Ukraine won two gold medals and second place in the team standings. IAIO 2027 will be held in Vietnam.

The field is new: IAIO has run since 2024, EuroAI since 2026, and the Ukrainian olympiad since 2025. This is the rare moment when twenty years of tradition do not stand between a schoolchild and an international podium.
